How To Draw Lipstick

Step 1

On the surface, lipstick is a fairly simple item. It’s a small tube containing the lipstick itself and has few moving parts or details.

You may use lipstick almost every day of your life, but learning how to apply it correctly can still be difficult.

However, after reading this guide, that will no longer be the case! We start by drawing the lipstick from the tube.

For this, we use a curved line with a rather rounded tip. There is then a smaller curved line at the top, giving the tip a flat edge.

Once that’s done, let’s draw the top. Add a thin edge to the end of the lipstick and then draw some straight lines from it. That completes this step, and we can move on to step 2!

Step 2

In this second part of your lipstick design, we will add more to that small section of the tube you started in the first part.

To do this, add another slightly thicker border with a few more curved lines at the bottom of this section.

Then, all you have to do is draw a thick enough line on the right edge of this section to give it some depth. Then, you are ready for step 3 of the guide!

Step 3

This third step of our lipstick drawing guide should be cute and easy!

All you have to do for this step is draw two straight lines down from the sides of the border you drew in the previous step.

Just like with the rest of the pipe, you can use a ruler to draw these lines so they’re nice and straight.

There is a gap left at the base of the lipstick, but we’ll fill that in shortly.

Step 4

In the previous part of drawing the lipstick, we mentioned that we would fill the space at the bottom of the tube.

That’s exactly what we will do in this step; again, drawing should look easy! First, draw another curved line for the base of the tube.

This completes the outline of the lipstick, but before you start the final touches in the next step, you can also add a line to the right edge of the tube.

This also gives the lipstick a bit more depth.

Once these aspects are completed, we can move on to the final details and tweaks in the next step!

Step 5

Now, you can add a few little details before moving on to the final phase of this lipstick drawing guide.

To give the pipe even more depth, you can draw several straight lines of different lengths on the sides of the pipe. Also, add a line to the left of each pipe section.

Once you’ve drawn them, you can color them in! Before you do that, you might want to draw a few extra details. One idea might be to draw the label of your favorite cosmetics brand on the lipstick.

You could even draw a background to show what other makeup pieces you would use with that tube of lipstick.

Step 6

Lipstick comes in many colors and shades, giving you much freedom when coloring your lipstick design.

We used shades of red and pink for the lipstick in our reference image and various shades of gold and yellow for the tube.

These are just some color options you can choose, and you should use whatever colors you like to create your perfect brand of lipstick!

You can also achieve different hues and intensities of color depending on the art medium you choose, so have fun and see what you come up with!
